River Report 11/28/22
Water levels on the James river and new river have returned to fairly low and clear, although there are small spells of rain incoming. can’t imagine it’ll do much for the levels. however, the musky fishing has been as good as one can hope for. colder daily temperatures have forced them into their winter lies, and they’re starting to eat a little more predictably in spots you’d expect this time of year. smaller to large flies are all working decently well.
the Jackson river remains low and clear, with no foreseeable change in the discharge. brown trout are spawning, so it’s best to avoid very obviously paired up trout. nymphs and light tippet are still out-fishing streamers in our experience. The smith river is fishing much better comparatively speaking. while it is lower and clear as well, the brown trout fishing has been much better, with trout eating on both streamers and nymphs regularly.
